Test Drive: 2023 Hyundai Palisade

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade three-row SUV is powered by a responsive Atkinson-cycle 291 horsepower 3.8-liter V6, dual CVVT, direct-injected engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with a multi-plate torque converter and offers both two-wheel and HTRAC® four-wheel-drive configurations. The Palisade is loaded with features including turn signal, front and rear cameras along with an overhead view monitor. The streamlined, non-distracting driver and center display is simple and easy to read. Second and third row passengers get pampered with reclining and heated seats. The ride is smooth, cabin is quiet and roomy. A key feature is the legroom trade off between second and third row passengers.

The list of safety features is long: Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Safe Exit Assist, Driver Attention Warning, High Beam Assist, Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control, Lane Following Assist, Highway Driving Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist and Remote Smart Parking Assist.

The Palisade looks like a large SUV but doesn't feel like it behind the wheel as this test drive review reveals. Pricing starts at $37,235 with this Canadian Urban Edition in the mid-$50,000 range.

2024 Kia Telluride Starts At $37,355

The 2024 Kia Telluride SUV, with a minor exterior restyling for a more rugged and refined look, is powered by a 291 horsepower 3.8L V6 GDI engine and starts at $37,355 (including $1,365 destination fee) for the LX FWD and goes up to a starting price of $54,550 for the SX-Prestige AWD X-Pro model. On Telluride X-Line and Telluride X-Pro models, black gloss replaces dark metallic exterior trim on the bumpers, lower door garnish, grille surround, and headlight bezels.

2024 Nissan LEAF Starts At $29,235 Now

The 2024 Nissan LEAF S, with a 40-kWh lithium-ion battery and an EPA-estimated range of up to 149 miles, is on sale now with a starting MSRP of $29,235 (including $1,095 destination and handling). The LEAF SV PLUS, with a 60-kWh battery and a range of up to 212 miles, starts at $37,285. 2024 Mazda3 Starts At $25,335 This Summer

The 2024 Mazda3 2.5 S models are powered by a 191 horsepower Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. Other standard features include front-wheel drive, cylinder-deactivation technology, and G-Vectoring Control Plus. Standard i-Activsense safety features include Mazda Radar Cruise Control with stop and go function, Smart Brake Support, Lane Departure Warning, Lane-Keep Assist, Driver Attention Alert, High Beam Control, and, for 2024, now features Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Rear Door Alert as standard. As a sedan or hatchback, Mazda3 2.5 S FWD starts at $25,335 (including $1,165 destination charge) and will arrive at dealerships this Summer, followed by sedan models in the Fall.

2024 Kia K5 Starts At $26,515

The 2024 Kia K5 sport sedan, entering its fourth model year in LXS, EX, GT, GT-Line trims, is powered by either an 180 horsepower 1.6T GDI I-4 engine or 290 horsepower 2.5T GDI 1-4 engine mated with an 8 speed DCT. The K5 carries over into 2024 with only one change and that's the GT-Line FWD trim adds heated front seats standard. The LXS starts at $$26,515 (including $1,125 destination fee).

2024 Honda CR-V Starts At $30,795 Now

The 2024 Honda CR-V adds a third hybrid-electric trim level to the 2024 CR-V lineup. Pricing of 2024 Honda CR-V starts at $30,795 (including $1,295 destination charge) for the LX 2WD. The new hybrid-electric powered 2024 CR-V Sport-L 2WD starting at $37,645 joins the lineup between the turbocharged CR-V EX-L and range-topping Sport Touring hybrid model and will begin arriving in Honda dealerships on June 14. More than 50% of CR-V sales are hybrid-electric models featuring Honda's 4th-generation two-motor hybrid system with combined system output of 204 horsepower. The hybrid powertrain brings an EPA city rating of 43 mpg in the city for Sport and Sport-L versus 28 mpg for EX/EX-L, and a combined rating of 40 mpg for Sport and Sport-L versus 30 mpg for EX/EX-L (all with 2WD).

2024 Lexus TX SUV Coming This Fall

The 2024 Lexus TX three-row SUV, made specifically for the North American market, comes in Standard, Premium, Luxury and F SPORT Performance grades. The TX 350 (FWD/AWD) is powered by a 2.4L turbocharged inline-4 engine. The TX 500h (DIRECT4 AWD only) offers a 2.4L turbocharged Parallel Hybrid system and is available exclusively as F SPORT Performance. The TX 550h+ (DIRECT4 AWD only) plug-in hybrid vehicle offers a 3.5L V6 engine with DIRECT4 with a manufacturer projected estimated EV range rating of 33 miles. This is the first Lexus PHEV assembled in North America and this powertrain will be available at a later date. TX will be exclusively assembled by Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana, and is the first Lexus vehicle to be assembled there. The 2024 TX 350 and 500h are expected to go on sale this Fall. The 2024 TX 550h+ is expected to go on sale at a later date.

2024 Lexus GX Coming In Early 2024

The all-new 2024 Lexus GX, redesigned from the ground up with an increased wheelbase of 2.36 inches and overall width increase of 3.74 inches compared to the previous-generation GX and is in offered in Premium, Premium+, Luxury, Luxury+, and all-new for Lexus, Overtrail and Overtrail+ grades. With seating for up to 7, the 2024 GX shares the GA-F platform introduced on the current-generation LX 600. At launch in the U.S., GX will come standard with a 349 horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.4L V6 engine paired with a 10-speed Direct Shift Automatic Transmission. Towing capacity which has increased to 8,000 lbs. for Premium, Premium+ and Overtrail grades with the standard tow hitch. The 2024 GX is expected to go on sale in early 2024. A hybrid powertrain will be available in the U.S. at a later date.

Volvo EX30 Starts At $34,950 For Ordering Now

The fully electric Volvo EX30 small premium SUV starts at $34,950 MSRP in the US. The single-motor, extended range option gives you an estimated range of 275 miles between charges. The all-wheel drive variant of the EX30 provides 422 horsepower. The extended-range Twin Motor variant has a charging capacity of up to 153 kW that means you can charge your battery from 10 to 80 per cent in a little over 26.5 minutes. Available for pre-order now in the US.

2024 Jeep® Wrangler Starts At $33,690 This Summer

The new 2024 Jeep® Wrangler, comes in Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Willys, Rubicon, new Rubicon X, High Altitude and Rubicon 392 trims, starts at $33,690 (including $1,795 destination) and goes to $89,390 for the Rubicon 392 powered by a 470-horsepower 6.4-liter V-8 engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 4xe lineup is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged PHEV 4xe with an eight-speed automatic transmission delivering 375 horsepower, and 21 miles of all-electric range for 49 MPGe.  Other engine options are the 270 horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission and the 285 horsepower 3.6-liter gas engine can be paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission. New for the 2024 model year, is full-float Dana rear axle, new available factory Warn winch and increased 5,000-pound tow capability. Inside, available 12-way power front seats, standard 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen radio and standard side curtain airbags for the first and second rows. The new 2024 Jeep® Wrangler will start to arrive in U.S. Jeep dealerships this Summer.

Volkswagen ID. Buzz three-row Microbus Coming Next Year

 Volkswagen ID. Buzz three-row Microbus, nearly 10 inches longer than the two-row European Buzz that debuted in 2022, sits on a 127.5-inch wheelbase versus 117.6 inches for the two-row. The new APP550 rear-mounted motor is a PMS (permanent magnet synchronous) design that produces 282 horsepower with a 91 kWh (gross) battery mounted in the floor. All-wheel drive is available for the three-row ID. Buzz at launch, with about 330 horsepower and dual motors. The new electric motor of the ID. Buzz increases the top speed to an electronically limited 99 mph, up from the two-row’s 90 mph. The three-row ID. Buzz is planned for sale in the North American market starting in 2024.

2024 Toyota Tacoma Coming Later This Year

 The 2024 Toyota Tacoma, in its fourth generation, is powered by a 228 horsepower 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine for entry-level SR grades and 278 horsepower for all other grades paired with the new eight-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with intelligence. An available six-speed intelligent manual transmission with automatic rev matching and anti-stall technology produces 270 horsepower. Tacoma also offers a 326 horsepower i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain on TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, and it's standard on the TRD Pro and Trailhunter halo models. i-FORCE MAX pairs the 2.4-liter engine with a 48 horsepower electric motor integrated into the eight-speed transmission feeding off a 1.87-kWh NiMH battery pack. Two cab styles are available with either a 5- or 6-foot bed, a four-door Double Cab and a new two-door XtraCab features behind the front two seats. Maximum towing capacity for Tacoma is rated at 6,500 lbs. on SR5 i-FORCE and TRD PreRunner XtraCab grades, and maximum payload increases to 1,709 lbs. on TRD Off-Road. The all-new 2024 Tacoma will go on sale later this year with i-FORCE MAX models arriving in early 2024. Pricing will be announced closer to the on-sale dates.
